Global vice president Dr Mumtaz Patel and associate global director (AGD) for The Middle East and North Africa, Dr Omar Mustafa, had the pleasure of welcoming the RCP Iraq Network to RCP at Regent's Park, London.
Last month, Global vice president Dr Mumtaz Patel and associate global director (AGD) for The Middle East and North Africa, Dr Omar Mustafa, had the pleasure of welcoming the RCP Iraq Network to RCP at Regent’s Park, London. The Network, chaired by the international adviser (IA) Dr Hilal Al Saffar, was created in 2020 and now ranks third in the overall number of international members and fellows. This outstanding achievement is a testament to the Network’s commitment to delivering educational courses, hosting conferences and holding mock PACES examinations in Iraq. Global vice president Dr Mumtaz Patel began her presidential term in September 2020 – just a few months later, the Network was created. She has supported the Network from the beginning and says; ‘The work of the Network should be admired. They have demonstrated that through collaboration and commitment, it is possible to exceed even your own goals. I’m very proud of their achievements and how through their activities, they have improved medical education in Iraq and ultimately accelerated patient care. I look forward to supporting other international Networks that will follow in their footsteps.’ During their visit, the Network, guided by AGD Dr Mustafa, met with several directorates and senior RCP officers including president Dr Sarah Clarke. The network shared its success, highlighted its activities and explored opportunities for the future. Speaking about the visit, Dr Mustafa said: ‘The Network’s activity demonstrates the commitment and vision of our colleagues toward the improvement and innovation of healthcare and medical education in Iraq. I look forward to the next phase of development of the Network.’ Chair of the Network and IA for Iraq, Dr Hilal Al Saffar, added: ‘I am thrilled to have made my dream a reality by successfully establishing the Network. We provide modern medical education and help shape high-quality medical services.
